Privacy Policy

Tokai University’s websites (www.u-tokai.ac.jp and https://shiryo.pr.tokai.ac.jp, referred to below as “these websites”) are operated by Tokai University (referred to below as “the University”) and its agents.

Tokai University’s Internet Privacy Protection Policy

The University takes the necessary measures as described below, within reason, to protect the personal information of all those who access these websites, which could be used to identify them.

Provision of Personal Information
The University may, for the purpose of improving the services we provide, gather information within a required range from individuals who access these websites. The gathered personal information is kept within the required range for achieving the above purpose, and information gathering is carried out by legitimate and fair measures.
When users access these websites, the University does not gather any information at all that could be used to personally identify them (name, address, telephone number or e-mail address) unless users voluntarily provide such information.
The University may ask users of these websites for their names, addresses, or e-mail addresses for the purpose of services such as providing information about the University, forwarding messages via these websites, or mailing documents.
If users do not provide information that could be used to personally identify them, they may be unable to receive information about the University or services provided by these websites.

Managing and Storing Personal Information
The University appoints an officer who carries out the appropriate management of personal information provided by users. The officer strives to protect users’ personal information by not only preventing leaks outside the University but also implementing appropriate and reasonable safety measures against the risk of loss, damage, or falsification of information and the risk of unlawful access from outside the University.

Use of Personal Information

The use of personal information gathered by the University is kept within the range required to achieve the purpose of information gathering. We use statistical information that cannot be used to personally identify individuals (browser type, regional location, age range, etc.) as research data for improving services and providing high-quality information or for other legitimate purposes.

The University may store or process information that could personally identify individuals for the purposes of corporate services or improving education.
We may also utilize this information to contact users. Furthermore, we may upload this information to the University database for the same purposes.

If a user provides us with personal information and we obtain his or her consent, the University or a subcontractor may deliver information to the user by a method such as e-mail. If a user does not want to receive information in this way, he or she can contact the University and we will stop such delivery.

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

We do not pass on personal information provided by users to any third party, unless we disclose it to a subcontractor or partner in order to achieve the purpose of personal information gathering.

If we pass on the personal information provided by users to a third party, we make a reasonable effort, by contractual obligation, etc., to prevent leaks or the redistribution of that information from the third party, unless the circumstances are exceptional. If these websites must disclose information under the law, however, or if we deem it necessary to disclose information for the following reasons, the Educational Corporation will make a rational judgment and may disclose users’ personal information to an external organization as follows.

  1. Disclosure of personal information to comply with a request from a public institution about a party who is connected to the operation of the University or these websites.
  2. Disclosure of personal information for the protection or defense of the rights or the property of this University’s teaching staff, university students, school and kindergarten pupils, or information providers.
  3. Disclosure of personal information to enable emergency action to be taken for the purpose of securing the physical safety or persons of the University, persons who provided information, or the general public.

Requests to Disclose, Correct, or Delete Personal Information
If users ask the University to disclose their own personal information, the University will disclose the information directly to those users without delay, within reason. However, this is not applicable if such disclosure would impinge on the rights of any third party or would significantly interfere with the University’s administrative operations.
If users ask for their own personal information to be corrected or deleted, the University will do so as soon as possible.

Legal Compliance and Continuous Review
While complying with the laws of Japan and other norms, the University will continuously review the content of its privacy policy and strive to improve it.

Governing Law

These terms of use shall be governed by Japanese law (domestic law and treaties). In all disputes relating to the use of these websites, the Tokyo Regional Court shall be the exclusive agreement jurisdictional court of first instance.
