Dr. Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary’s new book entitled “Reforming State-Owned Enterprises in Asia: Challenges and Solutions” was published by Springer Nature Group.

This book, in 341 pages and 16 chapters, analyzes state-owned enterprises (SOEs), which are still significant players in many Asian economies. They provide essential public services, build and operate key infrastructure, and are often reservoirs of public employment. Their weaknesses in governance and inefficiencies in incentive structures, however, also often lead to poor performance. The volume includes several case studies for the challenges and reforming SOE solutions in different sectors in Asia, applicable to other economies.
